My name is Michelle Panting and this is the second year I am teaching at Walter Whyte. This is my third year of teaching and I am having a great time.
Last year I tried really hard using Inspiration and having students do a large amount of research for many different projects. We used comic life to illustrate our creativity and enjoyed using photoshop as well.
This year, my main goal is to have an up to date web page for our school and try to become familiar with epearl to create student portfolios. I would also like to introduce the wikispace to all the other teachers in the school and collaboratively use them together. It would be really nice to have a lot of good sites that would help with using the smartboard. This year, our school has been blocked from more sites than you could ever imagine and it is becoming a real hassle trying to get the sites that I use for my units unblocked.
The objective we are going to discuss for the ICT committee to elaborate on is "support teaching and assessment in all curricular areas." It would be great to have numerous sites available for all teachers that are categorized into subject areas. Sites that would be good are some that students can use in the lab or projects that are ready to use for different grade levels or any sites for teachers to use in his/her classroom.
Some issues we have are not knowing where we are going and how we can have students meet the competencies of the 21st century. Examples are Leadership, Communication, Collaboration, Writing (text, email, web, proposals), numeracy (spreed sheets and analysis), Entrepreneurial (management, organization, marketing), Academic, Character (persistence, flexibility, and productivity) skills.
The program is Garage Band. We would use it to make a combined audio/video clip to be used as a summative activity for a novel study. Students would be able to create pictures for four different scenes of the book and then provide an audio clip highlighting these sections of the book. Pr-1.2
